Connect WM was created back in 2010, in the first instance it was targeting to be private enterprise by way of an online resource for those Businesses based in the West Midlands. This was at the time when the government were making cuts left, right and centre to all business support organisations – and out went many of the quangos, including the likes of Business Link.
As you’d expect since 2010 the business landscape has continually changed and many governmental funded business support enterprises since that time have come and gone.
But today Connect WM is still there and ever present, it would be fair to say that in part because of its name and because of the help it has provided to West Midlands Businesses in being able to market themselves and gain access to finance via Finance WM and Grants WM. It is often seen or assumed that Connect WM is funded by the government – however, nothing could be further from the truth.
Connect WM like any business has had its fair share of ups and downs, but it remains steadfast in wanting the continue in being a local resource for West Midlands Businesses to utilise.
